Na Pali Coast

The blues, reds and greens almost appear artificial. That was my first thought when I received the prints from the photo processor. But they are not. The weathered black volcanics, red clays, lush greenery, and blues that only the ocean can produce were an even more spectacular sight in person.

The Na Pali Coast is along the northwest of the island. Several of the valley ridges come directly to water's edge and terminate in nearly shear cliffs rendering those valleys and their associated beaches accessible only by water. This is one of them.
Honopu Valley.

Part of the movie "King Kong" was filmed in the area.

This photo was taken from Kalalau Lookout in Kokee State Park about 4000 feet up the mountain.
