Hanapepe Valley

Manawaiopuna Falls. You may remember this waterfall from the movie Jurassic Park. One of the tour companies on Kauai bills the falls as the opening and closing scenes in Jurassic Park. Actually, the movie is more than a few minutes old before the story's principal characters, paleontologists Grant and Sattler and mathematician Malcolm, land on the supposed Costa Rican island of Isla Nublar. When their helicopter does land it is on a pad on the edge the pool you see above.

Just about the only way to get to the falls is by helicopter.

And, as a point of trivia, there are more helicopter tour operators on Kauai than the other Hawaiian islands. When you compare the landscapes of the islands it is easy to see why.

Have I said we like waterfalls?
